Detectives want doorbell footage from Tollington Park after a 75-year-old woman died following an aggravated burglary on 11 August. The reference to quote is CAD7757/12AUG.

Detectives investigating the death of a 75-year-old woman after an aggravated burglary at her home in Tollington Park have asked residents to check their doorbell cameras, saying they believe a number of people living nearby hold information that could shape the investigation. Police were called at around 21:20 on Tuesday 11 August to reports of an aggravated burglary in Tollington Park, and attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. The woman was assessed at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital, where she died at 21:39 the following day. An 81-year-old man was also treated at the scene for injuries and taken to hospital, and was discharged the day after. The woman’s family are being supported by specialist officers, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

A crime scene remains in place at the address and along Evershot Road, the Met said. Its statement does not report any arrests.

What police are asking for

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Massink, who is leading the investigation, said his team was “at an early stage” and awaiting the post-mortem examination to establish how the woman died.

“We thank those who have already come forward to provide witness accounts, and appeal for anyone with information or doorbell footage to come forward,” he said. “We believe a number of residents in the area will have key information that could help inform our investigation. No detail is too small.”

Superintendent Mark Hambleton, a policing lead for the area, said officers recognised the concern the case would cause locally: “There will be an increased police presence in place while enquiries continue and we thank the public for their understanding at this time.”

Cllr Una O’Halloran, the Leader of Islington Council, repeated the appeal in a statement the same day. “I can’t put into words my shock and sadness at the tragic death of a 75-year-old woman following a burglary at her own home,” she said, adding that the council would work with the Met “to provide reassurance over the coming days”.
